Mykim is a self taught home baker who is based in Sydney of Chinese-Vietnamese heritage and established her business officially since August 2014. This is her story...
Baking was always a much loved hobby, and not realising how difficult macarons were supposed to be, I thought I'd make some for my son one day. Luckily, they worked out magnificently (I've had many failures in between though) and people encouraged me to start making them for gatherings and family events.
Self-taught, I was encouraged by the overwhelming positive feedback about the colours, tastes and overall appearance of the end product. I decided to pursue this as an outlet for my more creative and artistic side.
Working with some great stylists and customers who have allowed me to be more freelance with design has allowed the business to flourish with a strong instagram following of 90+K and combining it with my love for teaching has allowed me to reach out to others sharing my secrets to creating these delicious morsels for the past 4 years!
Arelio is a name derived from the TWO loves of my life, my children: Ariel and Emilio. to many people’s amazement I still work as an Aged Care Physiotherapist because of my love for helping others, whilst still taking custom orders for macaron jobs as well. It can be difficulty to maintain a good work-life balance but it does help that you absolutely LOVE and have a passion for what you are doing.
In the last few years, I have brought my teaching to the forefront releasing an instructional video and teaching group classes in Sydney as well as an invitation to teach in Surabaya, Indonesia. Aside from the baking, my dream would be to travel the world and possibly combine this one day with macaron teaching in all continents near and far.
All of our macarons are hand crafted from scratch and home baked. ​I love experimenting with not only the flavours but also the look of them with novelty, custom made macarons for birthday parties, baby showers, christenings, hen's parties, bridal showers, kitchen teas and weddings.
All orders are custom prepared, made to request from colours, to flavours, and even shapes! Not only delectable but also a little bit of fun.
